When the Date Has Already Passed
If this year's occurrence is already behind you, the count simply rolls forward to next year, so the figure is never negative.
Anniversaries that fall on 29 February are the one case worth checking by hand, since the date exists only in leap years.
Worked Example
For an anniversary on 20 April, the count from 1 April is 19 days. Once 20 April has passed, the same calculation rolls forward and reports the days remaining to next year's date instead of a negative number.
That roll-forward is why the tool never returns a negative figure, and why it needs only the original month and day rather than the year.
